The lads took on their hardest test of the season on Saturday away at Faces, who had scored six goals in their previous 2 games.
We started ok and against the run of play took the lead from a great passing move with Jamie Milner hitter a screamer into the back of the net. We continued to take the game to them and created some good chances of our own. Faces then came back into the game and dominated the last 20 minutes of the first half. Dell made some amazing saves to keep us in the game, 1 in particular was world class. However they equalised 5 minutes before half time, their forwards were a constant menace all game.
We started the 2nd half really well and continued to create some great chances, on the break we looked a very dangerous side. With 25 mins to go Owen came off and Baker dropped back into CB, Dave Johnson slipped into centre midfield and Pete Mitchell came on for Chris Machin up front. We continued to press, but sadly no luck.
5 minutes from the end Faces broke and scored. A minute later as we pressed, we were caught against the run of play and they scored again, smashing in from close range. The boys continued to push on and in the last minute a great team passing move saw a great shot from Baker find the back of the net. The end result was harsh, the lads played very well and was deserved of a point, but standards in this league are much higher than last season and we need to learn to take our chances away from home. Credit to Faces, I don't think we will play a better team all season.
