Rams manager Simon Gilbert started his new era with a defeat in this friendly game against his former club Concord. A very experimental and youthful side come undone against their more experienced opponents. Leading 2 : 0 at halftime the Canvey based side took advantage of some slack defending to net a further 3 times in the 2nd half.
Whilst disappointed by the defeat manager Gilbert used the game to look at over 20 players who have an eye on 1st team football for this season. However a number of players will need to improve on their performance if they are to pose any real threat on the 5 or 6 regulars that were missing from todays line up.
Next week sees a reduced squad take on Bowers & Pitsea as Gilbert seeks to find his best 15 for the upcoming season.
