The Rams 2009 run showed no sign of letting up with the team showing little regard for Buckhurst Hill's league position. To be fair it was a game of few chances in which although Buckhurst dominated posession, they did a poor impression of a team sitting second in the table. In the first five minutes the visitor's top scorer Lorenzo executed a nut meg before driving into the side netting, and then shortly after their skipper was left unmarked 8 yards out from a free kick, but failed to hit the target. With the early warnings escaped it was Buckhurst's manager whose nerves freyed and it eeked into their play as they become more frustrated at having nothing to show for all their posession.
Lennie got injured after 25 mins and Pete came on, almost immediately having a chance to score. Just before the half time whistle Chip floated a delightful free kick (after successive weeks of trying to get the angle right!!) and Brighty rose highest (not hard really) to nod 6 inches wide. 0-0 at the break.
The restart saw the Rams expecting an onslaught, but again it did not come, with the defensive approach paying off. Standing the attackers up was the order of the day and playing a little deeper to deny any space for the opposition to expose the Rams for pace. The plan came to fruition when Rams only real clear cut chance saw Brighty burst into the box and in an almost mirror image of the chance he fluffed last week, he connected perfectly to bury the ball infront of a jubilant bell end.
The last half an hour saw the game played out to Justin's plan, without any real chance falling to the visitors. Although the Rams can't have claimed to have outplayed the away team, it was certainly one up to Lovric in terms of a true tactical victory. Next week see's an even tougher challenge, with Rams travelling to top of the league Westhamians. Can the Lovric train keep steam rolling it's way to mid table obscurity?!
